The Business Jet Traveler’s Annual Readers’ Choice Survey has become somewhat of an authority concerning upcoming trends in business jet travel. This year’s survey has provided important insight about how professionals and executives prefer to travel by private jet and what their travel plans for the coming year are.

Businessmen enjoy the Embraer Phenom 100.

One of the important reveals is about which aircraft business jet travelers most covet. In the very light jet category, that jet is the Phenom 100 by Embraer, which is part of Presidential Aviation’s light jet fleet. In fact, the competition wasn’t even close for the very light category with the Embraer Phenom 100 bringing in more than half the vote at 52.4 percent.

The next on the list was the Cessna Citation 510 Mustang at 37.4 percent, followed by the Eclipse 500/550 at 5.9 percent of the vote. The “Other” category finished last with 4.4 percent of the vote.

Incidentally, the Embraer Phenom 300 also took top billing in the small-cabin/light jet category.

The competition was a little more crowded for this particular style of jet, but the Phenom 300 was still the clear winner with nearly 30 percent of the vote, with the next contender bringing in less than 20 percent.

Other Discoveries Revealed in the Business Jet Traveler Survey

The survey results reveal the fact that the ability to save time is the number one reason, by far, that businesses choose to fly private jets. Other reasons for their decisions to fly private jets include the following:

  • Ability to use airports not served by commercial airlines
  • Ability to work, conduct business meetings, etc. in transit
  • Comfort of flights
  • Privacy
  • Security

When asked to define which features are most appealing in an aircraft, some of the answers were surprising. What wasn’t a surprise was that economical operation was first, second, or third priority for most survey respondents. Other top priorities include the following:

  • Age of aircraft
  • Aircraft manufacturer
  • Cabin size
  • Cockpit technology
  • Range
  • Speed

Items that carry less significance were, surprisingly, things like cabin amenities and baggage space.

What’s So Special about Embraer Phenom 100?

In addition to winning Robb Report’s Best of the Best Award, the Phenom 100 offers the largest cabin and windows in its class and low operating costs, which are important to business jet travelers.

The jet seats four and has a range of 1,178 nautical miles at cruising speeds of up to 390 miles per hour. The cabin is roomy for a jet of its size with a cabin height of 4.9 feet, width of 5.1 feet, and length of 11 feet.

About the Business Jet Traveler Survey

2015 marks the fifth annual Business Jet Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Survey. The survey focuses on how jet travelers feel about private flying in the coming year. In some years, surprising results are discovered as a result of the survey and it helps aircraft manufacturers to understand what it is that their private jet customers are really looking for in the craft they purchase or charter.  One thing is certain and that is the fact the Embraer is a name to be reckoned with when it comes to very light and light jet aircraft.
