The idea for the garden was first mooted in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty, and the Yuyuan Garden is today a picturesque sight modeled after the Suzhou style. At the heart of the Yuyuan Garden is an ancient stone named the Yu Linglong, or the Jade Exquisite.

City God Temple: The Cheng Huang Miao, or the City God Temple, was built before the 15th century as a dedication to three city gods. Located within the Old City of Shanghai, the City God Temple is adjacent to the Yuyuan Garden. Popular among tourists and locals alike, the two attractions are linked in a large pedestrian zone reviving the commercial district of yesteryear.

Shanghai World Financial Center: Towering over 1,600 feet is the Shanghai World Financial Center, currently the third tallest building in the world. Located in the Pudong district forming part of the magnificent Lujiazui skyline, the Shanghai World Financial Center was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and was completed in 2008. An observation deck in the building stands 1,555 feet above the ground, and the towering skyscraper comprises a total of 101 floors.

Shanghai Grand Theatre: One of the biggest and most modernized automatic stages in the world resides in the Shanghai Grand Theatre, a 1,800-seat theater north of the People’s Square. Home to the Shanghai Opera House Company, the Shanghai Grand Theatre is an imposing landmark designed by ARTE Charpentier and Studios Architecture.

Nanjing Road: One of China’s most exclusive shopping districts is Nanjing Road, located right next to the Bund. Attracting shoppers from all over the world, Nanjing Road is home to upscale shops and novelty stores, and is definitely a must-see shopping attraction in the city.

It is 107 miles away from Shanghai.
• Nantong Xingdong Airport (NTG): This airport serves the city of Nantong and it is currently situated in the city of Xingdong. It was opened for public use in 1993. It is 92 miles away from the city of Shanghai.
• Yiwu Airport (YIW): This airport is a joint civil-military use airport which features one concrete runway. It is located four miles away from the city center of Yiwu, roughly 186 miles away from Shanghai.
• Zhoushan Putuoshan Airport (HSN): This airport is located on the Zhujiajian Island (93 miles away from Shanghai) and it currently features one runway. It mainly services general aviation.
