About Xi’an, China
Formerly known as Sian, Xi’an is the capital city of Shaanxi province, located in northwest China. It is one of the oldest cities in China, and the oldest of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. The city is home to the Terracotta Army. Since the late 20th century, Xi’an emerged as a significant industrial, cultural and educational center. Xi’an has a population of more than 5million according to the 2011 census, making it the most populated city in Northwest China. A report published by the Economist Intelligence Unit named Xi’an as one of 13 emerging megacities in China.

The museum covers an area of 700,000 square meters, with the construction area being more than 50,000 square meters. The Shaanxi Provincial History Museum showcases the development of Chinese civilization as well as Shaanxi culture.
Forest of Stone Steles: It was originally built in 1087 and today, it still holds a large collection of steles in China. It is a classical courtyard-style structure built at the site of the former Confucian Temple in Sanxue Street. It covers an area of more than 30,000 square meters. The museum is home to ancient Chinese stone engraving classic. The steles are arranged in such a way that they resemble a forest, hence the name. With more than 900 years of history, it’s understandable why people travel far and wide to explore this gem.
Hanyang Tombs: This is the site of the tomb of Jin Emperor’s tomb from the Han Dynasty and it was opened to public in 2001. Hanyang Tombs is famous for its collection of animals and terracotta figurines. While the tomb is not open to the public, the exhibition hall showcases artifacts from the burial sites surrounding his main tomb.

- Luoyang Beijiao Airport (LYA): Located about 200 miles from Xi’an, this is the main airport that serves Luoyang which is a city in the Henan Province of China. It is ranked at the 4th busiest airport in the country according to its traffic movement. It is also houses an exercising terminal of Civil Aviation Flight University of China. The airport sits at an elevation of more than 800 feet above mean sea level and a single concrete runway in the 08/26 direction.
- Yan’an Ershilipu Airport (ENY): Located less than 260 miles from Xi’an, the airport is open for both public and military use and serves the city of Yan’an in the Shaanxi Province.
