Zermatt is a municipal town in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It is famed for being a mountaineering and ski resort town of the Swiss Alps. Historically, Zermatt was an agricultural town. Kleines Matterhorn: Boarding the highest cable car in Europe takes visitors to a place where panoramic views are an ordinary reality. The car takes visitors from Trockener Steg to the north end of Kleines Matterhorn. There’s also a cableway that takes from Furgg to Schwarzee, an alpine lake with a restaurant that serves tasty meals. Moreover, there are halls and tunnels curved into the glacier with a snack bar and ice sculptures.

Matterhorn Museum: The history of Zermatt as a skiing and resort town is quite fascinating and visitors can learn all about it at the Matterhorn Museum. Hinterdorf: Located higher up in Zermatt, Hinterdorf is a warren of weathered old wooden chalets, storehouses, stables and barns as well as narrow lanes. The storehouses are characterized by circular stone slabs on the supports which deter mice. The buildings in this area date back to 16^th and 18^th centuries, and they feature stone slab and dense local arch wood to withstand snow.

Sunnega: Sunnega is connected to Zermatt by funicular climbs in a tunnel. Highlights of this destination include the crystal water of Leisee in which children can enjoy splashing in, a marmot watching station where one can watch the little mammals that live in the alpine burrows, hiking trails, skiing, the Wolli’s Adventure Park and more.

Gorner Gorge: Located about a 15-minute walk away from Zermatt, Gorner Gorge was formed by melting ice and snow from Gorner Glacier, which swirled and churned into the rock for many years. The Gorner Gorge is a world of waterfalls and greenish serpentine rocks that are carved into spectacular shapes. • Bern Airport (BRN): Located approximately 78 miles away from Zermatt and within the town limits of Belp, the airport is operated by ALPAR Flug- und Flugplatz- gesellschaft AG. The airport has one asphalt runway (14/32), one grass runway (14L/32R) and several touchdown areas. Runway 14 is also equipped with an Instrument Landing System and a non-directional beacon approach. An area is being built in the southern side of the airfield to facilitate private aviation operations.
• Milano Malpensa Airport (MXP): Located approximately 106 miles from Zermatt and about 30 miles from central Milan, the airport is operated by SEA Aeroporti di Milano. The airport features two asphalt runways (17L/35R and 17R/35L) and two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 is currently used for charter services.
• Interlaken Airport (LSMI): Located approximately 45 miles from Zermatt, Interlaken Airport is a former military airbase. It sits at an elevation of about 1,893 feet above mean sea level and a single tarmac runway that is designated in the 05/23 direction.
• Sion Airport (SIR): Located less than 50 miles from Zermatt and 1.5 miles southwest of Sion city, the airport offers regular charter and scheduled flights. There are currently no scheduled flights to and from the airport.
• Lugano Airport (LUG): Located approximately 124 miles from Zermatt and 2.5 miles west of Lugano, the airport is owned and operated by Lugano Airport SA. It is able to handle more than 190,000 passengers and over 2,000 flights per year. The airport features a single passenger terminal that includes customs and airport security facilities. There is one asphalt runway designated in the 01/19 direction.
