The most striking feature of Asam Church is the altar which sits on a glass shrine with a wax figure of St. John and is enclosed by four twisted columns.
Cuvillies Theater: The theater was built in 1755 and is located on the east side of Residenz, Munich. It is considered as the finest example of Rococo theater countrywide. The four-tier boxes as well as the carved woodwork were stored during the Second World War and this allowed their reconstruction in 1958. The architectural design of the theater is as unique as it is magnificent. Late Baroque period operas such as Mozart’s Idomeneo are performed here on certain occasions.
Hellbrunn Zoo: The zoo is ranked as the fourth best zoo in Europe in 2013 and is considered one of the best attractions in Bavaria. Spreading across 89 acres of land and established in 1911, Hellbunn Zoo was the first zoo that grouped animals in accordance to their origins. It is home to more than 19,000 animals from slightly over 750 species. Highlights include the Polarium, Elephant House, and the 5,000-meter free flight aviary.
Munich’s Residenz: This is one of Europe’s most spectacular palaces and for centuries, it served as the seat of the dukes, electors and the King of Bavaria. The complex is made of three sections – Alte Residenz, Konigsbau and Festsaalbau. Construction of the sections was completed at different times with Court Church being the last to be constructed in 1848. The Residenz is now home to several museums and monuments.
