Whistler is a resort town located in the Southern Pacific Ranges in British Columbia, Canada. It is located 78 miles north of Vancouver and is home to a population of 9,965 residents. The town receives more than two million visitors every year who come here for snowboarding, alpine skiing and mountain biking. The city was first surveyed in the 1860s by British surveyors who named the mountain ‘London Mountain’ due to the heavy cloud and fog surrounding the mountain. Whistler has hosted Winter Olympics on a number of occasions, and has been named as a top skiing destination by many major skiing magazines.

Snowshoers prefer to take the route to viewpoints such as Alexander Falls while the Nordic Skiers prefer the groomed trails.

Lost Lake: The Lost Lake has a beach and the trails from the Lakeshore go all the way into the forests, giving tourists a chance to explore British Columbia wildlife. Other activities here include bird watching and biking in the summer to cross-country skiing in the winter.

Squamish-Lil’wat Cultural Center: Located at First Nations Museum, this cultural center takes visitors through the culture and history of the Squamish and Lil’wat people. Both of the above have lived in Whistler for longer than man can remember.

Peak 2 Peak Gondola: This takes visitors back and forth between two mountains which are 4.4 kilometers apart. The ride only takes 11 minutes and on a clear day, visitors get to enjoy spectacular views of both mountains and the surrounding landscape. The surroundings are characterized by alpine lakes, snowcapped mountains and dense coniferous forests.

Whistler Blackcomb: Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain both rise above Whistler and boast of a reputation as the one of the best skiing sites in North America. Blackcomb alone boasts of more 37 lifts which provide access to 200 runs and as such, there’s a lot to do in one day.

• Victoria International Airport (YYJ): Located approximately 131 miles away from Whistler and 14 miles north-northeast of Victoria, the airport sits at an elevation of about 64 feet and has three asphalt runways in the 09/27, 03/21 and 13/31 directions. The airport has a single passenger terminal that features 10 gates.
• Vancouver Harbour Water Airport (CXH): Located approximately 75 miles away from Whistler, the domestic airport stands at an altitude of 466 feet above ground, features a seaplane terminal and water runway. The airport mainly handles general aviation traffic.
• Nanaimo Airport (YCD): Located approximately 111 miles away from Whistler and 8.1 miles south of Nanaimo, the domestic airport sits at an elevation of more than 90 feet and a single asphalt runway in the 16/34 direction. The airport is equipped with an advanced Instrument Landing system which provides year-round weather reliability of more than 99%.
• Abbotsford International Airport (YXX): Located less than 120 miles away from Whistler and 2.5 miles southwest of Abbotsford, the airport is managed by the Canada Border Services Agency, which also provides clearance services to all general aviation aircraft in the airport. The airport has one asphalt runway and an asphalt-concrete runway in the 01/19 and 07/25 directions respectively.
• Bellingham International Airport (BLI): Located approximately 126 miles away from Whistler and 3 miles northwest of Bellingham, the airport also has high volumes of general aviation activity. Sitting at an elevation of 170 feet, the airport features a single asphalt runway in the 16/34 direction.
• Powell River Airport (YPW): Located less than 158 miles away from Whistler, the airport sits at an elevation of about 425 feet above mean sea level, and has a single asphalt runway in the 09/27 direction.
