Since 1939, August 19 has been known as National Aviation Day in the U.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt created a Presidential proclamation that this day, the anniversary of Orville Wright’s birthday would be the day when the U.S. celebrates aviation. • Take flying lessons. In addition to dedicated flight schools, many colleges and univeristies offer flight aviation programs.
