Popular Destinations in Bucharest
Looking for activities once your private jet arrives in Bucharest? The capital of Romania since 1862, Bucharest offers its visiting tourists much to delight. Some of the most popular attractions are listed below:
Caru’ cu Bere: Tourists may find themselves among a crowd if they visit this hot spot. Bucharest’s oldest beer house, Carcu’cu Bere is a part in and of itself. It’s not rare for hostesses to burst into traditional song-and-dance numbers here. The atmosphere is such that tourism is favored. Dinner reservations are a must if one intends to enjoy not only classic Romanian food but also the stained glass windows and colorful belle-epoque interior of this establishment.
The Palace of Parliament: It is suggested that tourists bring their passport and book in advance when visiting The Palace of Parliament. This is the world’s second-largest administrative building (second only to the Pentagon in the USA). Construction began in 1984 and has yet to be completed. The Palace of Parliament is well known as the infamous creation of former dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. Covering 330,000 square meters, it contains more than 3000 rooms.
Cismigiu Garden: People watchers will revel in this opportunity to gaze at the Bucharest locals here at Cismigiu Garden. Visitors have their pick of any number of benches , and will find comfort in this serene environment. Surrounded by cafés, a lake, shady walks, and the much beloved Cismigiu Garden itself, tourists are more than welcome here. Those wanting to splash around in the small pond can rent paddle/pedal boats from May to September.
Romanian Athenaeum: It is necessary to pre-purchase tickets for the amazing shows offered at the Athenaeum. The George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra often plays classical Romanian music here. It would be a shame to miss the 41-meter high dome and the interior fresco featuring Romanian history. Funds for this attraction dried up in the late 19th century, and it was only saved by a massive campaign named “Give a Penny for the Athenaeum”.
Anthony Frost: Eastern Europe’s finest, albeit small, English-language bookshop is for serious literary lovers. Contemporary, highbrow nonfiction and fiction selections have been carefully selected for this shop. The store is located next to Cretulescu Church, in a small passage, and is definitely worth a little chunk of any devoted reader’s day.
Grigore Antipa Natural History Museum: Though enjoyable for adults, this museum (unlike many attractions in Bucharest) is geared toward children. The building has been completely renovated with interactive exhibits including games, video displays, and all the bells and whistles one would expect of a children’s natural history museum. This attraction thankfully contains a high percentage of English signage for tourists.
