The 2016-2017 NBA regular season will end on April 12, 2017 and the playoffs will begin on April 15, 2017. The conference semifinals are scheduled to begin May 1, 2017 and finals to begin on June 1, 2017. The final date is, yet, to be announced.
About the NBA Playoffs
Throughout the season records are kept. During the playoffs, the 16 teams with the best records in their conferences will compete in eight best of seven tournaments, eliminating teams along the way until only the Eastern Conference and Western Conference winners remain.
The final tournament involves these two teams in yet another best of seven series with the winners being named the National Basketball Association champions.
The first playoff games were three-stage tournaments. The format has changed many times over the years. But the result remains the same – one team stands as victors at the end of the season.
The NBA consists of 30 teams.
